Old Testament Sample Module

Objectives
At the end of this lesson you will be able to:
1. List three Old Testament parables and explain their meaning; and
2. Write your own parable for a modern day situation

10 sample questions of 21:
1. We have met three well-defined parables as we have gone through from Joshua to 2 Samuel. Can you recall who told them (Jg 9:7ff, 2 Sam 12:1ff; 14:4ff)?

2. Let us briefly recall the content of each one. Jotham told his parable about the trees: they were seeking a king and asked in turn the olive tree, the fig tree and the vine. They gave different reasons for refusing the position but what was it they had in common?

How to use the Sample Material
Read through the section below and answer the question(s) posed.
Check the answer or the course writer’s own view by hovering your mouse over the raven.
In most sections (‘frames’) you will be asked for a response of some sort, perhaps an answer to a question or to give your view on something. Some of the frames will be easy, and require a quick, objective answer – just to check that you are following the train of thought. Sometimes there is a more involved question, requiring your own reflection and with no ‘right answer’ as such.

The idea throughout is that in interacting with the material, you know whether you have understood what is being offered, and whether you agree with it or not.
